Exploring the Enchanting Beauty of Naran and Skardu

Pakistan’s northern regions are a paradise for travelers, and Naran and Skardu are two of the most mesmerizing destinations that captivate adventurers and nature lovers alike. Naran – The Land of Lakes and Lush Greenery

Journey to Naran

Leaving Islamabad early in the morning, I embarked on a scenic drive towards Naran, passing through Abbottabad and Balakot. The road hugged the banks of the Kunhar River, offering breathtaking views of crystal-clear waters and towering pine trees. The cool mountain breeze was refreshing, marking the beginning of an exciting adventure.

Exploring Lake Saif-ul-Mulook

One of the highlights of Naran was Lake Saif-ul-Mulook, an enchanting alpine lake surrounded by snow-covered peaks. Local Culture and Cuisine

During my stay in Naran, I had the opportunity to experience the warmth and hospitality of the local people. I indulged in Chapli Kebabs, Trout Fish, and local Honey, which are specialties of the region. The small bustling bazaars of Naran were filled with handcrafted souvenirs, including woolen shawls and traditional jewelry, offering a glimpse into the rich culture of the Kaghan Valley.

Skardu – Gateway to the Mighty Karakorams

After crossing Babusar Pass and entering Gilgit-Baltistan, the journey took a dramatic turn as the landscapes became even more rugged and awe-inspiring. The drive to Skardu, though long, was an adventure in itself, passing through dramatic gorges, winding mountain roads, and the mighty Indus River carving its way through the rocks.

Shigar Fort and Valley

Upon arrival, I visited Shigar Fort, a historical fort-turned-luxury hotel, nestled in the Shigar Valley. The architecture reflected the rich Balti culture, and the surrounding views of lush orchards against the backdrop of barren mountains were breathtaking.
